Man Had Two Obituaries Written For Him After He Passed Away

We all have secrets we will take to our graves, but sometimes, those secrets end up getting out.

That’s what happened when one man died and his wife and his longtime girlfriend found out each other existed through one of the most unusual ways — a newspaper.

When Leroy “Blast” Bill Black died of lung cancer on August 2nd, 2016, everyone in the town of Egg Harbor Township were distraught. They had lost a friend, a neighbor and for some, even more. He was only 55 years old, but this man certainly lived quite the life. In fact, you could say that he lived two lives.

As is typical, when Leroy died his wife put out an obituary in the local newspaper The Press Of Atlantic City to tell the locals of his passing. However when readers got the August 5th edition of the paper, they were surprised to see two obituaries for Leroy Black.

Readers were confused and immediately assumed it was an accident on the paper’s part, but when they read over the two obituaries they noticed slight, but important differences in them. It turns out the double obituaries wasn’t a mistake at all.

It turns out one was written by his wife, and the other was written by his girlfriend. Both painted a slightly different picture of the same man.

A funeral home spokesperson told The Philly Voice that the newspaper saw the two obituaries but decided it would be better to publish both as the wife and girlfriend wanted different versions. The newspaper decided rather than fight the two women, it would be better to simply publish both.

This is the photo went viral and is one of the biggest things to come out of Atlantic City in the past few years. The story behind is as crazy as you would expect!

Below is the wife’s obituary

The notable takeaway from this one, is that it mentions that he is only survived by his loving wife and it also makes no mention of Princess, Leroy’s longtime girlfriend.

The girlfriend’s obituary

And then in the girlfriend’s version, it says that Leroy is survived by his “longtime girlfriend.”

Oddly enough, the girlfriend’s obituary makes no mention of the wife and the wife’s obituary makes no mention of the girlfriend. It appears that Leroy may have been living two lives. One other difference is that Princess, the girlfriend, also includes a few more details about Leroy’s job as opposed to the wife’s.

It is very unfortunate that Leroy’s wife and Princess have to deal with this revelation during the grieving process. There are many questions that the two have that may never be answered.

This will probably be the biggest thing to come out of this little Egg Harbor Township town, but this sure shows how truth can sometimes mimic fiction in the strangest of ways.
