Bodies of twin boys believed to be one week old were found wrapped in puppy training pads outside an apartment building.
According to reports, a maintenance superintendent named Johhny made the heartbreaking discovery at the back of an apartment building in New York City.
One of the babies was in a plastic bag while the other was found 20 ft. away and wrapped in a puppy training pad.
Johhny, the building’s maintenance worker, told the New York Post: “I didn’t pay it any mind, because I thought it was a toy doll.”
He was collecting trash bags that afternoon when he realized that it was a real baby.
“The baby was partially wrapped from the waist up in blue plastic, you know the kind you keep in the house for animals,” the father-of-three said.
Johnny described the moment as ‘unspeakable,’ adding: “I can’t believe somebody would do such a thing.”
A resident named Osvaldo Volquez immediately called emergency services after Johhny told him his shocking discovery.
“It is a terrible act of humanity,” Mr. Volquez expressed. “I don’t know who would do such a thing.”
The babies were rushed to the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Care where they were both pronounced dead.
Resident Tytiana Lomax said the incident left her shaken and landlord Mohammed Oumarir said ‘it shouldn’t be that way for nobody, even the animals.’
Police officers are reviewing CCTV footage and are urging anyone with information to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
One person commented: “Heartbreaking those poor little boys. What their mother must have gone through doesn’t bear thinking about. Hope they find her soon.”
Another wrote: “Just when you think you can’t be shocked these days then a story like this comes along ….what kind of human being does that.”
