Trump Broke The Royal Protocol By Touching The Queen During State Dinner 2019

President Trump appeared to have broken royal protocol when he touched the Queen during the State Banquet at Buckingham Palace.

The US President was seen touching the Queen’s shoulder – something totally against the royal etiquette – as he stood beside Her Majesty following his brief address.

After completing his speech, Trump approached the Queen and tapped on her back with his left hand.

Though the instance might not look like a big deal, it is. According to royal decorum, touching the Queen is strictly prohibited unless Her Majesty herself offers her hand.

And it seems the 45th president wasn’t offered a hand by the Queen.

Irrespective of whether or not Trump broke the royal protocol, the Queen was totally cool. She was neither annoyed nor confused and kept smiling as if nothing had happened.

During his speech, Trump thanked the 93-year-old monarch for her generosity and hospitality. He also commended the soldiers who had fought on the D-Day.

Trump, 72, said: “Your Majesty, Melania and I are profoundly honored to be your guests for this historic state visit.

“Thank you for your warm welcome, for this beautiful weather, your gracious hospitality, and Your Majesty’s nearly seven decades of treasured friendship with the United States of America.

“This week, we commemorate a mighty endeavor of righteous nations and one of the greatest undertakings in all of history.

“Seventy-five years ago, more than 150,000 allied troops were preparing on this island to parachute into France, storm the beaches of Normandy, and win back our civilization.

“As Her Majesty remembers, the British people had hoped and prayed and fought for this day for nearly five years.”

Unfortunately for Trump, not everybody was as welcoming as the Queen.
