The White House has confirmed that President Biden has no plans of dismantling Space Force.

Despite previous concerns that one of Trump’s favorite projects could be facing an abrupt end after White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki appeared to mock the project by laughing at it, it has now been confirmed that the agency has Biden’s full support.

“They absolutely have the full support of the Biden administration. And we are not revisiting the decision to establish the Space Force,” Psaki said during a briefing on Wednesday.

“Wow. Space Force,” Psaki said as she laughed after Josh Wingrove of Bloomberg asked her if President Biden had already decided whether to pursue the project or not.

After the reporter pointed out that Space Force represented an entire branch of the US military, Psaki added: “It is an interesting question. I am happy to check with our Space Force point of contact. I’m not sure who that is. I will find out and see if we have any update on that.”

Following her Tuesday comment, Psaki has been facing a backlash with top Republicans calling her out for mocking the US military branch.

“This is just another example of the Biden administration not taking China seriously while demeaning the incredible work of the Space Force personnel,” Florida Rep. Mike Waltz said.

Meanwhile, Alabama Rep. Mike Rogers, who is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, demanded an apology.

“It’s concerning to see the Biden administration’s press secretary blatantly diminish an entire branch of our military as the punchline of a joke, which I’m sure China would find funny,” he told Politico.

“The Space Force was passed with near unanimous support in Congress, the same type of ‘unity’ President Biden is supposedly working toward. Jen Psaki needs to immediately apologize to the men and women of the Space Force for this disgraceful comment.”

Following the backlash, Psaki welcomed members of the Space Force team to join them in the briefing room and share updates about the project.

“We look forward to the continuing work of Space Force and invite the members of the team to come visit us in the briefing room anytime to share an update on their important work,” she tweeted later on Tuesday.
