President Donald Trump has made it clear that the U.
S. won’t be paying for Meghan and Harry’s security as they settle in Los Angeles to start their ‘new’ lives.
Trump’s tweet followed shortly after the couple moved from Vancouver, Canada, to Los Angeles where they plan to start afresh.
“I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!” Trump wrote in his tweet.
Just hours after the tweet, the royal couple responded via a spokesperson who claimed the couple had no intention of requesting the U.S. government to arrange for their security.
As royal sources have confirmed, Harry and Meghan would be required to request the State Department for security resources if they wanted to be protected as international diplomats by the Secret Service.
Since the final decision would rest on Trump’s shoulder, the POTUS made it clear he had no intention of paying for the royal couple’s security.
Responding to the president was the couple who claimed:
“The Duke and Duchess have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”
The couple’s decision to move to L.A. followed soon after the Canadian government announced they would no longer contribute to paying for the couple’s security arrangements after Megxit is completed.
Following their decision to leave the royal life and move abroad, Meghan and Harry have clearly expressed their desire to “stand on their own feet.”
