Trump Says He Should Have BANNED Twitter When He Had The Chance As He Praises Nigerian President For Crackdown On Social Media

Donald Trump has once again shared his disdain for tech giants as he said he should have banned Twitter when he had the chance.

According to the former president, more countries should follow Nigeria’s example by banning Facebook and Twitter for “not allowing free speech.”

As Trump suggested, he should have banned the platforms back when he was still a president. He also said he might actually do so if he gets reelected in 2024.

The 45th US President’s angry comment follows shortly after Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari blocked Twitter nationwide after the tech giant removed one of his posts over alleged policy violations.

“Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President. More COUNTRIES should ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing free and open speech – all voices should be heard,” Trump wrote.

“In the meantime, competitors will emerge and take hold. Who are they to dictate good and evil if they themselves are evil?”

He went on to claim that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg kept on calling him back when he was still the president.

“Perhaps I should have done it while I was President. But Zuckerberg kept calling me and coming to the White House for dinner telling me how great I was. 2024?” he added, hinting that he might take action against tech giants should he get elected in 2024.

Trump’s controversial comments follow after he was permanently banned from Twitter following the Capitol riot on January 6. The former president was also banned from Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, whereas Facebook recently decided to ban Trump from the platform for two more years.
