President Donald Trump said that he and first lady Melania Trump urged their son Barron to stay away from e-cigarettes.
With the first lady next to him, Trump announced that his administration will ban flavored e-cigarettes from the U.S. marketplace and said its objective is to get rid of the temptation from teens’ paths.
When DailyMail asked him as he left the White House, Trump responded: “We haven’t told him anything, except, “Don’t vape.” Don’t vape!
“We don’t like vaping. I don’t like vaping.”
Trump also previously said that vaping is “very dangerous. Children have died … and we’re going to have some very strong rules and regulations.”
After hundreds of Americans developed a mysterious illness linked to vaping, the Food and Drug Administration will publish a regulation banning flavored e-cigarettes.
“Not only is it a problem overall, but really specifically with respect to children,” Trump expressed, adding that “we may very well have to do something very, very strong about it.”
Trump made it clear in the Oval Office that the first lady feels ‘very, very strongly’ about the dangers of e-cigarettes as they are also raising a teenager.
He said that Melania has become engaged on the dangers of vaping. The main active chemical in both vape oils and cigarettes, nicotine, is most strongly addictive in younger people.
The president said to journalists in the Oval Office: “We can’t allow people to get sick and we can have our youth be so affected… and I’m hearing it, and that’s how the first lady got involved.”
He added: “She’s got a son, [we have] together, that is a beautiful young man, and she feels very, very strongly about it. She’s seen it, we’re both reading it, a lot of people are reading it. But people are dying with vaping.”
