Donald Trump has all but conceded defeat as he agreed to begin the transition to Joe Biden weeks after the latter was declared president-elect by major networks.
In a massive step forward, the General Services Administration informed Biden that he may access federal resources and begin the transition process.
The letter was released by General Services Administration Chief Emily Murphy who referred to Biden as ‘Mr.’ rather than the president-elect in the announcement.
Besides announcing the beginning of the presidential transition, Murphy took the letter as an opportunity to defend her reputation and present claims of alleged harassment and threats she has been subjected to.
While the letter doesn’t recognize Joe Biden as the winner of the election, it serves as a major breakthrough in the process of transition, whereas the president-elect will now be able to start discussions with top officials and receive the same briefings as the POTUS.
Despite the major move, Trump later doubled down on his claims of victory as he vowed to “prevail” before insisting he’s just doing what is “in the best interest of our Country.”
“I want to thank Emily Murphy at GSA for her steadfast dedication and loyalty to our Country. She has been harassed, threatened, and abused – and I do not want to see this happen to her, her family, or employees of GSA. Our case STRONGLY continues,” Trump tweeted moments after the letter was sent to Joe Biden.
“We will keep up the good fight, and I believe we will prevail! Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same.”
