Ghost Town: Traveler Trapped In Wuhan Shared Pictures Of The Abandoned City


A traveler who found himself trapped in Wuhan, the center of the novel coronavirus outbreak, has shared photos of the abandoned city where people were forced to go into hiding to protect themselves from the deadly virus after the city was quarantined.

While several million people have fled the city and left for other parts of China before the total quarantine took place, those remaining now have little chances of getting rescued any time soon.

One traveler who found himself trapped in the city is 21-year-old Daniel Ou Yang who was visiting his grandparents when the city was put under a lock-down.

As seen if the screenshots from the video Mr. Yang shared on social media, the streets of Wuhan appear to be empty whereas hundreds of thousands of residents were forced to hide inside their homes to reduce the chances of contracting the virus.

Meanwhile, people have been caught on camera resorting to desperate measures in an attempt to protect themselves from coronavirus.

Plenty of travelers are seen using everything from large plastic bags to plastic bottles to entirely cover their heads amid fears that they could contract the deadly coronavirus.

While the controversial methods may protect them against the virus, experts have quickly warned against such practice due to high risks of suffocation.

“Wearing containers on your head to prevent a coronavirus infection [is not advised],” the CDC warned.

In one photo shared by a traveler, a woman is seen walking around the airport with her head wrapped in a tiny plastic bag.

In another photo, an entire family, including young children, are seen wearing large plastic bags all over their bodies.
