Aside from those already mentioned, one activity that some people find fun is dumpster diving. You may ask, what’s fun about rummaging around in other people’s trash if you’re not a homeless bum? Well, it’s likely the sense of adventure and discovery akin to some modern-day Indiana Jones.

And if the continued success of History Channel’s “American Pickers” is any indication, other people are also interesting in finding out something new even if only through TV. And besides, like Forrest Gump, “you never know what you’re gonna get.”

Apple, Inc.

That’s exactly what two young experienced when they hit the jackpot and found loads of abandoned Apple store products in a dumpster.

To provide context to the story, an Apple store recently closed down in Wauconda, Illinois. So two friends, Darick Langos and Jonas Fernandez, both 20, decided to check out what the dumpster behind the abandoned Apple store contained when they made their find.

Some of the Apple products they found included iPhones, iPads, AirPods, and some keyboards.

Darick said: “Altogether what we found was worth about $300-$500.

“I couldn’t believe it. I was about ready to scream with excitement.

“We usually don’t find anything like this. We’ve been doing this for years and this was one of our best hauls ever.

“It’s not every day you come across hundreds of dollars in free Apple products.”

It’s really astounding that so many brand new products were just dumped in the trash but Apple (or the former operator of the store) probably decided that it would cost more to have all the items shipped back to the main warehouse and so they just dumped them all in the back. Maybe the insurance makes up for the loss of the products.

Either way, it’s the company’s loss (or maybe not) and the gain of these two youngsters. One thing’s for sure, they don’t need to beg their parents for an iPhone this Christmas!
