Tom Hanks Broke Into Tears As He Accepted Golden Globes’ Lifetime Achievement Award


During the 77th Golden Globes Awards ceremony, Tom Hanks has broken into tears as he was handed over the Cecil B.

DeMille Award for his lifetime achievements.

The 63-year-old beloved actor and filmmaker, who is best known for his roles in the likes of Forrest Gump, Toy Story, Cast Away, You’ve Got Mail, Big, Sleepless In Seattle, Saving Private Ryan, Bridge Of Spies, Apollo 13, A League Of Their Own, and more, has gotten emotional as he addressed the audience upon receiving one of Hollywood’s biggest honors.

“I have a cold the size of Merv Griffin’s Jeopardy! royalties. Showing up on time is one of the greatest and most liberating acts you can give yourself in a movie,” the actor said as he was holding back his tears.

“A man is blessed with a family sitting down front like that – a wife who is fantastic in every way, who has taught me what love is… five kids who are braver and stronger and wiser than their old man,” the actor continued as he praised his family for his achievements.

“And a loving group of people who have put away with me being away months and months at a time. Of course, otherwise I wouldn’t be standing here if they didn’t have to put up with that. I can’t tell you how much your love means to me.”

Throughout his five-decade-long career, Mr. Hanks has appeared in a total of more than 80 movies whereas he’s managed to capture the hearts of viewers with incredible performance and “rich and playful characters.”

“For more than three decades, he’s captivated audiences with rich and playful characters. As compelling as he is on the silver screen, he’s equally so behind the camera as a writer, producer and director,” Lorenzo Soria, the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said.
