Brie was devastated as it had her 3-year-old son, Josiah Rainey’s $10,000 prosthetic leg.

Josiah was born with vacterl syndrome which means he was born without his left leg.

He would use the prosthetic leg on a daily basis and after it was stolen, he was unable to play.

Josiah’s mother Brie said: “The theft was so upsetting. He relies on the prosthetic for his independence and mobility and to take that away from somebody is just crappy.”

Brie said she was in a hurry to carry her sleeping 4-year-old daughter inside her home that day and totally forgotten about the backpack.

She filed a police report but they couldn’t find the missing prosthetic leg. When doctors at Shriners Hospitals for Children, who treated Josiah for two years, came to know about the missing prosthetic leg, they decided to donate a new prosthetic leg to the little boy.

Just days after, Josiah was fitted with a new prosthetic leg by prosthetist Darren Rottmann.

Community members also donated to a GoFundMe campaign which raised enough funds to buy a wheelchair.

“We had an overwhelming response from the community and it is wonderful that such good has come out of this,” Brie said.

Josiah is doing fine now and is very happy after getting his prosthetic leg back. He is walking, running and playing like he used to do before.

Brie said: “He takes everything in his stride. He is so happy, regardless of what he has been through. He takes everything in his stride.”

“He is so happy, regardless of what he has been through. It has not affected him at all. As soon as he gets his new leg, he’ll be right back at it. He was walking better than ever”, she added.
