A Toddler Born With Full Set Of Hair Is Getting Mistaken For A Porcelain Doll

A baby girl born with unusually thick hair looks more like a porcelain doll than a living child and has a stricter beauty regime than most of us.

Dolly had ‘incredibly thick hair’ at the time of her birth, her mom Katie Canham revealed.

Her hair grew even more impressive in the five months she’s been in the world, with strangers mistaking her for a doll rather than an actual baby.

Katie, from Bromley, London, added how her little girl already has to follow a strict daily hair maintenance routine to keep her extraordinary hair in a good shape.

Speaking of Dolly’s shoulder-length hair, Katie said: ‘I have to wash it with baby shampoo every day. And I have to brush it regularly – otherwise it gets out of control.

‘It’s so thick, so it gets really knotted. I have to keep on top of it.

‘You can do all sorts with it – I put it in a ponytail quite a lot, or just brush it and leave it. I want to let it grow. I can’t even explain how much I love it. I am amazed by it.’

‘People stop me all the time when I’m out with her,’ added Katie, who is also mother to 10-year-old Archie, 7-year-old Ellie, and 18-month-old Reggie.

‘So many people have told me she “looks like a porcelain doll” when they’ve seen her asleep,’ she continued.

‘One person even stopped me the other day and asked “is that a real baby?”

‘Her hair is so unique and it’s something that I’m really proud of. All my other children had hair but started losing it all after three months! Dolly’s completely different.’

The toddler’s long hair touches her eyebrows, and is nearly shoulder-length at the back and sides of her head.

During the time little Dolly was in her mother’s womb, Katie had severe heartburns. According to medics, it usually happens to pregnant women when their baby is unusually hairy.

The severity of these heartburns depends on the amount of hair the child has.

Judging from the amount of hair Dolly had upon birth, Katie sure had a challenging pregnancy.

Her painful pregnancy was even longer than usual as Dolly was 15 days overdue at the time of her birth. ‘I had really bad heartburn all the way through my pregnancy,’ Katie recalled.

‘That’s always one of the questions people ask when they see her. It was a nightmare. The pain was horrendous. But it was all so worth it now I have Dolly.’

Katie is still not sure who Dolly inherited her hair from because she, in no way, had such hair upon birth or even as a toddler.

The mother-of-four said: ‘Her dad had quite a bit of hair as a baby, but nothing like this. We couldn’t believe it when she was born.

‘The midwife said she’d never seen anything like it before. She was shocked – she said “that’s ridiculous!”

‘Usually babies’ hair falls out but hers has just grown thicker and thicker. I look at Dolly every day and I can’t get over her hair. It really is incredible.’

The former nursery worker added: ‘My other children love her so much, and my granddad can’t get over it.

‘Every time he sees her he says he can’t take her seriously because it doesn’t look real. Everyone loves her.’
