When people hear Titanic II, some think that there is another hit movie coming our way.

But nope, no sequel! ‘Titanic II’ is actually the name of the brand new ship that is set to sail in 2022.

Owned by the Australian company Blue Star Line, Titanic II will not just make its voyage more than a century after the original, but it will also follow the same route as Titanic. Wow, are you ready for this?

The Olympia-class liner is designed to pay homage to the first one as much as possible, with the external and internal appearance set to be the same.

But because we are now in 2018, the magnificent ship has received some modern updates to follow today’s safety and health regulations.

The original wood panel doors now follow the modern fire rules and third class is also not going to look quite the same as it was back in 1912. Titanic II is expected to carry more than 2,000 passengers and 900 crew members, and hopefully, all will make it to New York in one piece.

Of course, many people have the same thought “what if the ship sinks?”

It is very unlikely the new ship will have the same fate as the original as it has up-to-date navigation technology and safety features.  The project has also been huge and spent years in the making.

It was in 2013 when the company first announced its plan to build Titanic II and they mentioned that it would launch as soon as 2022.

The project received some negative comments in the past. Some said that it was ‘insensitive’ to those who passed away in the infamous tragedy.

After colliding with an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, Titanic split in half and sank, killing over 1,500 people.
