Their motivation? The producers of the said show claim they are fully convinced she has had her supposedly missing husband Don Lewis killed, put on a meat grinder, and served it to her feline carnivores along the way:

‘ID is the perfect place to find the inevitable sequel to this drama – featuring a missing husband, a hit man, and the illegal business of exotic animals. It’s time to let the cat out of the bag and address the lingering questions that viewers demand be answered.’  said ID president Henry Schleiff when asked by Variety for the motif behind the decision to continue on with the show.

The particular allegations will be put to the test among others in the new Discovery series “Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic.”

‘[His first wife] Gladys and her daughters had strong selfish motivation to lie and make implications about the meat grinder and Don being buried on the property 23 years ago that have absolutely no basis in fact whatsoever,’ Baskin (née Jones) has commented on the overall issue in her official website through her widely publicized estate Big Cat Rescue.point 439 | 1

‘Don was not easy to live with and like most couples we had our moments. But I never threatened him and I certainly had nothing to do with his disappearance. When he disappeared, I did everything I could to assist the police. I encouraged them to check out the rumors from Costa Rica, and separately I hired a private investigator.’

This will be one of many allegations and crime theories that the show intends to lay out over the course of the months it would air. Following the news, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister reports getting more than ‘six calls a day’ regarding the incident as a tip
