Three Workers At Care Home Arrested For Encouraging Patients With Dementia To Fight

Some people entrust their parents, relatives or themselves in the hands of caregivers in health facilities.

After all, medics are trained to provide excellent service, optimum care, and also love.

It is hard to imagine a nurse or caregiver doing something terrible to people with disabilities, especially to elderly patients.

But these three women were just too heartless to even care.

32-year-old Marilyn Latish McKey, 26-year-old Taneshia Deshawn Jordan, and 20-year-old Tonacia Yvonne Tyson have been arrested on suspicion of running a fight club with some patients with dementia.

The three women who worked at the North Carolina facility have been accused of encouraging patients to fight.

They were finally fired after the incident at Danby House in June and authorities have been gathering evidence since then.

“When you’re talking about someone who can’t take care of themselves, we’ve got to give specific attention to that,” Lieutenant Gregory Dorn said to Fox 8.

In one incident, McKey pushed a 73-year-old patient into a room while the other two workers filmed.

In a separate incident, a 73-year-old patient started fighting with another patient but the three workers just watched, encouraged them to fight, and filmed the moment.

McKey has been charged with two counts of assault on a person with disability, while Jordan and Tyson have been charged with one count each of assault on a person with disability.

The facility released a statement and said: “Danby House has a zero-tolerance policy for the mistreatment of those in our care and as such, McKey, Tyson, and Jordan were terminated immediately in June when community management was alerted to this situation.

“Administrators have been working closely with the Winston-Salem Police Department throughout its investigation to ensure justice is served. Additional staff training and a more rigorous vetting process for all new and existing employees at Danby House has been implemented.”
