Three people got arrested after vandalizing the Black Lives Matter mural located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan by spreading blue color over it.
The incident is the second of its kind this week, whereas an unidentified man previously, on Monday, poured red paint over the mural before fleeing the scene.
This time, on Friday afternoon, a group of people took to 5th Avenue to cover the mural in blue paint. Three of the suspects were later arrested and identified as 25-year-old D’Anna Morgan, 44-year-old Luis Martinez, and 39-year-old Germanotta.
According to the reports, all three suspects have already been released and issued a desk appearance ticket.
Besides the arrested trio, the police have also issued a summons for a 64-year-old woman who had allegedly been illegally posting fliers.
The incident followed shortly after the police has released the footage of the man who vandalized the same mural on Monday and asked the public to assist them in identifying the suspect who is wanted for criminal mischief.
According to the reports, the incident occurred at noontime on Monday when an unidentified man, who is believed to be in his 20s or 30s, took to Manhattan’s 5th Avenue to pour red paint over the Black Lives Matter mural that was approved by the New York City officials.
In the surveillance footage, the man is seen pulling a can of paint out of his bag before spreading the contents across the yellow-colored mural.
After succeeding in his attempt, the suspect, whom the police described as a white man of a medium build, fled the scene and ran off in an unknown direction.
As seen in the footage, the man was last seen wearing black shorts, a black shirt, black sneakers, dark sunglasses, and a black cap.
