We live in an era of independence where every group of community is recognized and respected.

It is unacceptable to damage the repute of any specific community. It is beyond imagination how the administration of a famous school behaved after knowing that its student, Rodriguez, is gay.

Bishop Amat Memorial High School, the largest Catholic school in Los Angeles, reacted strangely to a situation, which resulted in a walkout. Magali Rodriguez, who attended Bishop Amat Memorial High School for 3 years was singled out by school administration after knowing that she was gay and had a relationship with one of her classmates.

Rodriguez started dating her girlfriend when she was in freshman year. At that point, the dean interfered in this relationship, by threatening her that her parents would be informed about this relationship if she did not agree with his statement.

Dean also informed her that there had been many complaints about this relationship. Dean also offered her that her parents would not be informed if she continues to attend disciplinary meetings and sessions with the school psychologist.

Although the school has no written policy for same-sex relationships, Rodriguez was somehow tortured by the administration’s behavior. Her mental health and grades started suffering after this incident.

After this news came out, several students arranged a walkout to support Rodriguez and students like her. About 200 students gathered to protest and according to some students, even this protest was also supervised by their teachers.

The other student asked not to reveal her name and identity because her mom did not want her to talk about the incident. Rodriguez’s parents eventually pulled her out of the school when they heard about how the staff was treating her.

She now attends a different high school in the area. According to Rodriguez, she does not want this to happen to anybody else and this walk out of her school fellows is a positive gesture about the gay community.

Bishop Amat High School tweeted that excessive displays of affections are not permitted in school for any sexual community. It was also stated that school is treating all students equally irrespective of their sexual orientation.
