The incident that happened has sent a wave of shock both to people online and offline.
This is true that what we see on social media right now is just half of what people in real can see.
Following a winter storm, thousands and thousands of penis fish washed off at the beach in California leaving people in deep shock. The creatures we can see here live deep underwater.
They are basically worms but due to their shape they are called the name they have ‘penis fish.’
Ivan Parr, a biologist who works at The Wildlife Society’s Western Section was the first one to find out the worms and share information about them.
He said that the worms are called “fat innkeeper worms” but it is because of their appearance that the worms earned another name.
He informed that a massive storm had washed away several layers of the sea surface and along with the sand inside the water; these worms were dragged and exposed to the surface too.
We don’t get to see the creature very often because they like living underwater and do not travel out of the water ever.
Social media was left in a shock after seeing the picture of the beach covered with thousands and thousands of these worms. One could hardly see any land beneath the worms.
One man commented “What on earth is this creature? Is it real? What kind of a fish looks like that? Does anyone have an answer because this is freaking me out.”
Another commented “How weird is nature? We wish we could have an answer to this.”
Another one wrote “oh this looks incredible and gross. Although, it is very sad for the creatures. Poor babies.”
