If you’re a pet lover, you just can’t understand how some people can just mistreat animals, especially dogs.
After all, these furry, and sometimes exasperating, creatures are just what you need to make the day right again!
So it easily breaks the heart to witness animal abuse but, often times, we are not in a position to directly intervene.
However, one woman in the US who was witness to such abuse took it upon herself to rescue several dogs who were chained and left to die in the heat. But it was the action of one dog that set the woman to crying as she drove home.
She managed to capture the moment on video and it shows her with an arm draped across the dog seated on the passenger’s seat. Whenever she tried to move her hand away, the dog curled his paw around her arm to bring it back and at one time even snuggled his head against her arm.
It could be interpreted as both a desire to receive care and also a sign of gratitude for being saved. The woman could only murmur “It’s okay” several times while crying.
Finally, the dog finally started to climb over at her side while wagging its tail, as if it finally realized that things were, in fact, going to be okay.
The woman wrote:
“I saw abandoned dogs for days with no food, water or shelter, dying in 100 + degrees. They were tied up on two-foot chains, not able to move.
“I waited to see if someone would help them and I couldn’t sleep at night, so I saved them. Minutes after, one of the dogs reached for my hand multiple times wanting affection.
“It broke my heart that he’d been neglected and was dying and wasn’t mad at me but grateful. I started to cry and again, his focus shifted from himself to now my needs. I couldn’t believe so much love came from an animal that literally just came from a situation like he was in.”
One cannot help but be moved at the tenderness of the moment and what it meant for both the dog and the woman.
Other people who saw the video felt the same way.
One commented: “OMG I CAN’T STOP CRYING after seeing how much this beautiful dog was soooooo grateful. God Bless the people that save them. What happened with this adorable puppy dog?????”
And another said: “My most sincere appreciation for this rescuer. Seems like a perfect fit for both parties. As a fellow rescuer, I can rightly assert that many adopted pets understand and joyfully accept the actions of their new families. Except for my jerk cats. They’re just a couple of freeloaders.”
The rescuer deserves all the praise in the world and hopefully, with this new lease on life, the dog finally finds the peace and love that he has craved all along.
