A thief was caught on security camera stealing essentials, including bread and eggs, from the porch of a self-isolating elderly man.
The incident occurred in Swindon, the UK, where Vito and Veronica Zarola realized their food parcel was stolen while they were sleeping.
According to the reports, the food supplies were delivered to the couple’s porch at 2 in the morning whereas the masked thief picked them up just dozens of minutes later.
As the pair explained, they ordered essential supplies for Veronica’s 83-year-old father who has been in isolation due to COVID-19 fears.
While the couple was notified that the package arrived at 2 in the night, they were stunned to find that the supplies weren’t there when they opened their main door in the morning.
“It’s a normal thing for us to check the CCTV first thing in the morning, which we did on the day it happened,” Mrs. Zarola admitted.
“We saw the milk, eggs and bread had been delivered, so my husband Vito went to grab them and he came back and told me they weren’t there. They came right up to my door, bold as brass, took the eggs and bread but left the milk.
“I’m so angry because those eggs were for my dad Bruno, who is 83-years-old and lives on his own. He’s self-isolating and he’s a vulnerable person, so I’m really angry.”
After contacting the police and reporting the theft, the couple was allegedly told to also inform the delivery company as the same thing could happen to others as well.
“We can confirm we’ve received the report and would urge residents to be vigilant,” the Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.
