A 39-year-old bride-to-be has revealed how her 46-year-old partner hit her with a glass ashtray just months before their wedding.
Becky Aitken, from Bridlington in East Yorkshire, was due to get married to her partner Lee Mulligan at a registry office this month.
However, after the horrifying incident, she called off her wedding.
The mother-of-three told that her partner attacked her after she was late getting home from his mother’s house.
He threw her through a bedroom door and she ended up falling in a bathtub. She managed to run down the stairs but he threw a heavy glass ashtray at her face when she was trying to save her life.
Becky said: “It was horrific. He was like a raging bull. And all because I had been late getting home from his mother’s house.”
She said she was planning to spend her life with him but now she doesn’t even want to see him.
Becky and Lee met three years ago and Becky found him a family-orientated and old-fashioned man. Her kids liked him and she planned to get married to him.
However, he became possessive and started controlling Becky. He would not allow his female friends to come to their home and would complain if she was late home.
It was an on-off relationship but when he proposed to Becky, she finally decided to get married to Lee.
And then, the horrible attack took place and she called off her wedding.
Recalling the day, she said: “As soon as I got home, he started on me. I ran from room to room, but he followed me, hitting and punching me as I ran.”
“Then he threw me across the landing so hard, I fell into the bath with him towering over me. I saw him throw the big heavy ashtray through the air. It hit me in the face and knocked me off my feet.”
Becky needed dozens of stitches and plastic surgery and Lee has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after the attack.
Becky said: “I can safely say that the wedding is off, and he will spend our wedding night rotting in jail where he belongs.”
