Netflix has confirmed earlier reports that ‘The Umbrella Academy’ will be returning for a second season.

The Umbrella Academy season two has been confirmed by Netflix following the series’ global popularity after its debut on February 15. The comic-book series has gained a huge fanbase in the USA, UK, and around the world, all of whom had called for the Gerard Way-written show to be back for another season and new episodes.

The plot revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an impending apocalypse. The series is produced by Borderline Entertainment, Dark Horse Entertainment, and Universal Cable Productions.

While the series took some massive deviations from the comics it’s based on, fans have generally received it quite well. Season 1 concluded with the Hargreaves family deciding to forget their tortured childhood and unite as the team of superheroes they were meant to be to save the world.

As The Umbrella Academy is a Netflix Original series, the second season will only be available to watch online via the streaming service and not available on rival platforms such as Amazon Prime, Hulu, or Sky.
