A 21-year-old mother said she was forced to wait in the A&E for 24 hours during an emergency when her 10-month-old daughter suffered severe dehydration.
The hospital staff treated Chelsea Clarke poorly after she took her daughter to the hospital who apparently had extremely high body temperature.
Dolcie-Rae, Chelsea’s daughter suffered unexplainable rashes all over her mouth, foot, and hand.
She said her daughter started developing rashes all over her body when they were waiting in the A&E waiting room at Basildon Hospital on 24 November, Saturday.
Chelsea, who hails from Essex, said that her daughter started developing rashes. It was all over her body, from eyes to ears, and even mouth.
The authorities told the mother that Dolcie-Rae had a mouth, foot, and hand disease. She was sent home with prescribed medication.
However, the following day, around 6 p.m., she came back to A&E with her daughter, as she wasn’t showing any signs of improvement from the medication.
Dolcie-Rae was contagious, so they were told remain in the main A&E outside the x-ray.
Chelsea said her daughter had not eaten or drunk anything all day and the authorities appeared like they don’t care at all.
She claimed that one of the nurses from the hospital laughed at her when she told her that her daughter only had drunk two ounces of water that day.
They kept waiting the mother and daughter in the A&E before Dolcie-Rae was taken to the ward the next day on 26 November.
Chelsea said she was disgusted by such act shown by the staff. They waited overnight in the A&E even when her daughter’s condition was worsening.
After getting the treatment, she was under observation before getting discharged on 27 November.
She is now home, back to safety and recovering. After reporting the incident, the Basildon Hospital admitted that the staff poorly treated Chelsea and her daughter. The investigation is now being carried out on the nurses.
The hospital has apologized for the mistreatment.
