A couple was recently shocked out of their wits when they ordered a package of roast vegetables from Waitrose but what arrived to their doorstep was a package of vegetable neatly sealed with the logo with of the rival supermarket –Aldi on it
Was it a supermarket replacement?
Now for those who are frequent shoppers online may be aware of the fact that supermarkets at time take the liberty to replace items with similar ones in case of unavailability. But getting the product from an entirely new shop is definitely a novelty.
However what increased the amount of confusion was the fact that this package which had been ordered by the Ocado delivery did bear a seal of the Waitrose roast vegetables, but at the back of the package, the description read as “specially prepared” for Aldi.
The anonymous husband has been reported as saying that he was really disappointed with the entire episode. He depended upon the Waitrose and Ocado services for their quality and reputation. He further added that if he wanted an Aldo package he would go to their store but it wasn’t the case.
Indeed nothing can be more frustrating than spending your money on a particular product or service, but getting quite another in it’s a place. In fact, the couple had paid a higher rate to get the Wait rose product, while the original Aldi product comes at a much cheaper rate.
Following a complain registered by the couple, both Ocado and Waitrose has come forward to apologies to the couple.
In fact according to the spokesperson of Waitrose, the entire confusion has emerged due to mistake in labeling by the suppliers. They have also assured that since both the stores share some common suppliers, it may have arisen due to some human error.
