A recent photo of a Texas teen shielding an elderly woman with his umbrella from the hot sun has gone viral on the Internet.
Louis Jordan saw the old woman waiting at a bus stop in scorching sunlight as he reached at his mother’s workplace in Houston for giving her a lift back home.
‘It was unbearably hot,’ Jordan told ABC affiliate KTRK 7. ‘I wouldn’t want to be out there in the sun,’ he added.
That’s when he remembered that he had an umbrella in his car’s trunk. He took it out and rushed towards the woman for shielding her from the brutally intense heat until the arrival of the bus.
‘Come to find out, it was going to be a little longer for METRO Lift to come and get her,’ he said. ‘So we ended up waiting out there for an hour and 45 minutes.’
KTRK 7 further reported that the teen and the woman have now developed a close relationship. Jordan always shields Michelle, his new friend, from the scorching sunlight whenever he sees her at the stop.
‘We laugh, joke,’ said Jordan when he was asked what they use to talk about. ‘She’s in a book club. Come to find out, she likes pork chops.’
Bernette Botts, Jordan’s proud mother knows how kind is her son. She recalled how Jordan risked his own life for rescuing his grandmom during Hurricane Harvey.
‘She was trapped inside, four feet of water, no power,’ Botts said. ‘He called me back from my mom’s and said, “I got her.”‘
She further added that his son reminds her that the world hasn’t still gone void of goodness. ‘I am one proud mama,’ Botts told the local broadcaster.
Jordan believes in helping people in every possible way. ‘I pray that God allows me to be used every day,’ he told the news station.
