Texas Newspaper Asks Beto to Drop His Presidential Aspirations

The editorial board of “The Houston Chronicle” has asked Rep.

Beto O’Rourke to leave the presidential race and rather try to get the US Senate seat of Texas.

The editorial said that the chances of him making to the top job are fairly slim while it can be better if he works for the issues of Texas.

It also speaks of the blunt way that the former Congressman spoke to reporters on being asked his views on the recent El Paso shootout and that was a kind of turning point for his campaign.

O’Rourke had used some expletives during the answer and that was highly unwarranted from a presidential candidate.

The editorial talks of many other points – The editorial adds on to mention that how O’Rourke spoke was not natural yet it shows the authenticity of the person without any veil.

O’Rourke had taken on issues like border security and gun ownership in the past that helped him in establishing his footprint in Texas and although he trailed to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in 2018, the race became quite head to head during the closing moments.

The editorial frankly adds that O’Rourke should have done more from then on and should have worked for the issues that Texas face.

But things don’t look good at either end – O’Rourke has been consistently polling less than three percent for the Democratic presidential nomination.

So, now, if he challenges Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), he will be joining an already crowded field that is full of hopefuls for the post.

Christina Tzintzun Ramirez is the seventh primary contender who put her hat for the post on Monday! “The Dallas Observer” reports that she has also hired a lot of key members of the Beto for Texas campaign.

The 38 Electoral College votes of Texas matter a lot for the Democrats as they have not won them since 1976 when President Jimmy Carter last won the state in a Presidential race.
