Texas Girl Who Made Face Masks for Medical Workers Passed Away in an ATV Accident


A Texas girl (10) who made hand-sewn face masks and donated to healthcare workers amidst the coronavirus pandemic has passed away tragically.

Lexi Brooker Collins from Munday, Texas, has spent a lot of time and effort in making around 100 facial masks for healthcare workers of Knox County community and nearby regions. According to the local news channel, the young girl died in an ATV accident on Friday.

Lexi was a fifth-grader studying at Munday Elementary and was considered an extraordinary girl who learned how to quilt from her relatives.

In fact, she had also won multiple awards at the local cotton-picking Quilt show. The little girl started making facial masks for the community after her school was shut down due to coronavirus spread.

Her obituary revealed that Lexi was a bright and kind-hearted girl who brought nothing but joy and lover to her family and friends. She was loved by everyone who was a part of her life.

Light is something that exudes sight and makes us see things clearly, and Lexi was a walking example of light. She was a happy and positive soul.

The selfless act of Lexi was also featured on KTXS, and a Facebook post was also shared where medical workers were seen wearing the masks that were sewn by the little girl.

One of the staff members said that Anson General Hospital was gifted with a very generous donation. It was a bunch of hand-sewn facial mask from a fifth-grader living in Munday, TX. The staff further thanked Lexi on behalf of all the healthcare members.

Karen Long, the councilwoman of the city, said that Lexi’s donation was apt, considering her mother, uncle, aunt, and grandmother were all nurses. She added that the little girl was truly remarkable.

Unlike other kids, she was mature for her age and had the most precious spirit. In her obituary, Lexi was described as a normal 10-year old girl who enjoyed playing and having fun and carried a lot of love for others.
