The never-ending debate about jaffa cake being a biscuit or a cake doesn’t seem to be dying anytime soon. But, frankly speaking, it doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy the product!
However, the new family-sized jaffa sponge cake is definitely classified as a cake, at least by sensible people.
Tesco has recently launched a massive, family-sized jaffa cake for just £1. The orange-flavored cake features a sponge base and a dark chocolate icing, filled inside with a citrus-flavored cream cheese mousse filling.
A sixth of the cake, which is a 72g slice, contains 273 calories, 19g of sugar, and 17g of fat – so it’s not exactly a healthy food, but who cares when you are getting so much for just £1!
The jaffa cake lovers on the social media seem to have totally lost it when the news of the new frozen dessert was made public.
Some called the new treat a ‘jaffa cake cake,’ while others said they were excited to ‘give this a try.’
One Twitter user wrote: ‘It’s meant to feed 6 people, but I’ll be eating this all myself in one sitting…’
The 430g sweet treat was voted by fans to be one of the most popular deals on HotUKDeals.com last week.
While many wrote how excited they were to try this new treat, some were still wondering if the dessert, which also contains a layer of orange jelly, is categorized as a biscuit or cake.
One person emphasized that ‘Jaffa cake is never a cake!!!’

Jaffa cakes are already one of the favorite treats in the UK but fans get even more excited when there are cheap deals on offer.
Likewise, the Tesco’s ‘Jaffa Cake’ would cost £2, but it is down to £1 until August 27.
