Social media users are left outraged after a terrible fine of $337 was charged from a driver whose passenger was using the phone.
Sheree, who lives and Sydney and drives a cab as her way to make her living was left stunned.
She shared a post on Facebook in the month of June saying she had no idea she was breaking the law.
Although the post was uploaded back in June, it suddenly got back into the light as 31,000 people shared the post.
The post has left social media users in anger and disagreement as they say the fine is extreme.
She wrote, “ask your passengers not to use their phones while you are driving.
My passenger was doing Face Time on her phone and so they fined me for it.”
Other drivers came in and joined her in the argument saying that it is just a scheme of the government to make money.
One person wrote, “This is beyond my understanding. How is this the right way of making money?
Extracting money from hardworking people with such stupid penalties is just stupid.”
Another wrote, “This shows how hungry and broke the government is.
You fart in your own car without their permission and bam, they will impose a fine on you and will give you 5 points for it too.”
Another wrote, “Are they going to charge me for breathing too?
One woman commented, “This one is absurd.
I get it that drivers should not get distracted and for sure not use the phone, but imposing a fine on them because the passenger is using the phone? How will you justify this anyway?”
