Teens making TikTok videos unexpectedly found human remains inside a suitcase that was discarded on a waterfront in Seattle, Washington.
The teens who discovered the bag and contacted authorities shared the gruesome moment on TikTok where it was viewed by thousands of internet users.
TikTok user UghHenry wrote in the caption: “Something traumatic happened that changed my life,” adding the hashtags ‘murder’ and ‘crime.’
The video captions add: “We found this black suitcase. We were joking that maybe the suitcase would have money…(But) the smell was overwhelming.”
In the footage, the teen holding the phone can be heard telling another girl: “Open it! It stinks.”
The teens laughed before realizing the trash bag inside the suitcase may contain human remains.
The video then cuts to another teen contacting 911 and officers arriving at the scene.
According to the Seattle Police Department, another bag was found nearby on the 1100 block of Alki Avenue SW.
Investigators confirmed that the bags contained human remains, prompting detectives to investigate the area.
The remains were taken to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office for analysis.
The young teens only found out that that the suitcase contained human remains after watching the news.
In an interview with King-TV, West Seattle resident John Radie said: “I was stunned and shocked. It’s frightening to think that there’s someone out there that would do something like that.”
One internet user commented: “I’ve seen the full video on TikTok and it only shows a grey plastic bag. The girl pokes at it with a stick but never touches or opens the actual bag inside that holds the remains.”
Another wrote: “Their kids out on an adventure using an app. They come across a suitcase and of course, it’s like ok what’s inside. And because their kids they video everything. They did the right thing. As soon as they realized it was a dead body, they called the police.”
