Nowadays, we usually make friends and enemies over the internet to the point that we sometimes forget about our neighbors.

Fortunately for this family, that wasn’t the case in their neighborhood.

5-year-old Jocelyn Rojas was playing alone in front of her grandmother’s building around 4 pm. Her mom, Jaimee, watched over her from a nearby window. But when she turned her back for a moment, a strange man in a maroon car drove up and gave Jocelyn ice cream.

When the little girl approached the sedan, he grabbed her by the neck and forced her into the car.

Jaimee said: “I took my eyes off her for five minutes, and she was gone.”

She immediately called the police who teamed up with firefighters to block neighborhood streets. Police dogs, emergency professionals, and volunteers tried to find Jocelyn for more than two hours, but they couldn’t find the little girl.

Fortunately, two teenagers from the neighborhood, Temar Boggs, 15, and Chris Garcia, 13 came to the rescue!

Temar was helping an elderly neighbor when someone approached him with a photo of Jocelyn. After seeing the photo, he felt the urge to help.

I felt that I was going to find her,” he expressed. Temar then asked the help of his friend, Chris, and the two decided to look for the 5-year-old.

They didn’t improvise a plan, but they immediately hopped on their bicycles to investigate. About half a mile from the crime scene, the teens spotted a maroon Chevy swerving down a street, reaching a dead end, and making a U-turn.

The boys thought it was suspicious as if the driver was not familiar with the neighborhood. That’s when they decided to follow the car. Then, they saw the sedan immediately made another U-turn to avoid firefighters and police officers.

They chased the car for 15 minutes, determined to catch the suspicious driver.

Every time we’d go down the street, he’d turn back around, and then… we’ll follow him,” Temar recalled.

Finally, the 15-year-old pulled his bicycle next to the car and found himself face-to-face with the kidnapper. Temar saw Jocelyn sitting in the passenger’s seat. He looked into the kidnapper’s eyes and said three words that would save the little girl. Temar said:

“I see you.”

For some reasons, Temar’s words scared the kidnapper and he let Jocelyn go.

He stopped at the end of the hill and let her out, and she ran to me and said that she needed her mom.”

A few moments later, Jocelyn was together with her family, who hugged not only the 5-year-old girl but also Temar.

He’s our hero. There is just no words to say,” Jocelyn’s grandmother said.

The 63-year-old kidnapper, who was a sex offender, was identified and brought into custody, thanks to the detail facial description the two boys provided.
