If you’ve made it through the high school jungle, you probably know how much drama there is around asking people to a dance.
While some already secure their dates far in advance to avoid ending up alone, others wait to muster up their courage before attempting to convince their potential dance partners to go to the dance with them.

Still, if you’re not a very popular girl or guy finding a dance partner might be a very hard task.
Dakota Nelton from Gray, Louisiana, is one such high school student who waited until he gathered enough courage to ask his friend to the homecoming dance.
And when he finally approached her with his proposal, the girl turned him down.
While there’s nothing wrong with saying no, what followed after broke what was left of Nelton’s confidence.
The other students circled Nelton and began mocking and laughing at him. To make the situation even more stressful for the rejected student, they also stepped on the handmade poster that he had used as a part of his proposal.
Of course, some students also couldn’t resist recording the incident and spreading the footage throughout the school. Eventually, the recording also ended up on Facebook and resulted in Nelton getting ridiculed simply for trying to find someone to go to the dance with.

“It was actually a pretty tough moment standing in a small circle with that one shake of the head and you just got to find your way out of that circle,” the teen recalled in an interview with WGNO New Orleans.
Fortunately, however, a few days after the incident, the teen was in for a huge surprise.
When Dakota showed up at his school, he was greeted by a team of 13 girls in the middle of the hallway. They were all holding up a sign, asking him to go to the homecoming dance with them.
“I felt like one of the popular kids in school, which I’m really not,” Dakota said, feeling relieved that he found his date(s) for the dance!
