The father of a 19-year-old boy who died in an accident recently took his son’s girlfriend to her senior prom so that the girl would not miss out on her event.

Kaylee Suders would’ve never imagined that it will be Robert Brown putting on the corsage and doing funny poses in photos instead of his son, Carter Brown, whom she loved more than anyone else.

Carter and Suders had been dating for more than a year, but the two were not destined to be together.

Robert decided to take Suders to her event at James Buchanan High School on May 19, because he said his son would have still wanted her to attend the prom.

‘My son was a sweet, caring kid, and Kaylee is very sweet, too, and she is a part of our family,’ Robert told the Centre Daily Times.

‘When the passing topic of prom came up, I kept thinking my son would want her to go. That prompted me to get the ball rolling.’

Suders did not want to go to the prom after her boyfriend’s death but she changed her mind when Robert asked to go with her.

‘I didn’t have to think about it,’ she said. ‘I definitely said yes.’

The two of them celebrated the prom event with a dinner beforehand at the same T.G.I. Friday’s which Carter and Suders visited on their first date.

Carter’s mother, Kelly, said the whole experience indicates how much Kaylee is still part of their family.
