Kashala Francis, a young teen took her last breath five days after violently beaten up by some girls outside of Attucks Middle School.
Mamie Jackson, mother of the deceased is coping with the loss of her daughter,
“Why do I have to suffer? Why do I have to wake up and she’s not here?” Mamie cried while speaking to ABC affiliate.
The 13-year-old girl who was a 7th grader was punched and kicked in the head a number of times. Three days later, she complained of serious headaches and fell unconscious.
According to a report by the network, Kashala who was a student at Attucks Middle School was kicked and punched by some girls in the head on April 18, 2019 during a fight.
“I can see these girls kicking her in the head while other children are laughing at her,” Mamie told ABC13. The devastated mother said that her daughter claimed she was fine despite coming home from school with bruises on her face.
But days later Kashala complained of severe headaches. “I drove over and I told her to get up. I said, ‘Get up, Kashala.’ She kept saying, ‘Mama, my head hurts,’ so she laid down,” Mamie told.
When Kashala lost consciousness the mother called 911 and she was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston where she slipped into a coma. The doctors discovered a tumor in the back of her head. “We found out she has a large tumor in the back of her head, and she had fluid buildup in her brain,” the grieving mother said.
When Kashala was on life support, her mother discovered the video of the brutal fight.
“It’s not fair. She did not deserve that. She kept saying ‘Stop.’ She didn’t even want to fight, but they kept going. I’ve never met a person who has come into contact with Kashala who has not fallen in love with her. She was a sweet baby, real sweet. She always said she loved me, gave me hugs, kisses. She always found a way to make me laugh, when I was sad or mad, no matter what happened,” she said.
On April 24, Kashala passed away and according to the Houston Chronicle, an autopsy performed by Harris County Institute of Forensic Science ruled that the girl’s death was caused by natural causes due to “complications of intracranial neoplasm (pilocytic astrocytoma).”
“So if she had a tumor in her head that we (didn’t know) about, and somebody repeatedly stomps and kicks and punches you in your head, you’re not even fighting back, is it going to be better, is it going to be worse?” she asked. The mother strongly believes that if it wasn’t for the fight, she “still would have had more time with my baby.”
The mother of the young teen who was involved in the fight said that her daughter is not responsible for Kashala’s death.
Speaking to KTRK, Johnnie Dorsey said that the teen’s death has been hard on her daughter.“I hate this happened, you know I hate it. Not just for me, but for my daughter and for the family also,” she said while claiming that the fight had been pre-arranged by the girls and Kashala in order to settle an ongoing feud.
“It was an ongoing feud. They had a fight before this fight back in March. And now they had another fight,” Dorsey said.
The mother claimed that her daughter was upset and couldn’t sleep after knowing about Kashala’s death.
Dorsey said: “She’s destroyed. She’s having nightmares. She said you know, ‘We just had a fight, I didn’t know she had a tumor, she’s a kid, mom. I didn’t hit her that hard.’ I mean, I can’t even hardly sleep at night. I feel so bad for the family,” Dorset stated. Although she and her daughter felt bad for Kashala’s family, the mother wanted to make one thing clear: “She did not kill her.”
