In today’s society that is so fast and moving towards a more sedentary lifestyle, it is very important for all people to stay active and healthy throughout their lives. People who lost their weights and share their weight loss pictures also inspire others to follow their weight loss journey. And this is another example.
A teen, Michael Watson of Canton, Ohio, is a foodie and he is a die-hard fan of pizza and it was almost a difficult task, to lose weight for him.
Watson is over 6 feet tall, weighed more than 300 pounds. Much bigger in comparison of his class fellows, and he was reportedly bullied for his size.
“My self-confidence was zero,” Watson told CNN.
One day he looked in the mirror and he thought to bring a change in him, not just because of the bullies, but because he wanted to make his life better.
He changed his lifestyle a little bit, and that was enough. Like many other, Watson didn’t join a gym or begin a vigorous workout routine. He didn’t even count his calories.
Instead, Watson (now 18) started walking and eating healthy food.
“Oatmeal for breakfast. I’d eat eggs for lunch,” he shared with WJW.
Watson is a senior at McKinley High School now and he has lost 115 pounds. Watson gives all the credit of his success to walking 20 minutes daily to reach the school every day, rain or shine.
At this young age, he achieved his goal, he’s truly an inspiration to everyone and now his school district is even appreciating his outstanding achievement.
McKinley Senior Limelight is one way the district showcases seniors who have done something inspirational. Watson was a recent feature.
“After years of being overweight, Michael took matters into his own hands,” the Canton City School District Facebook post reads. “He adopted a healthier lifestyle of eating and exercise by taking the road less traveled…”
“Family Support Specialist Terrance Jones said he couldn’t be more proud of this student’s perseverance,” the post continued. “Congratulations Michael!!!”
Jones told to CNN and shared how Watson’s journey impressed him. “It’s an example of courageous personal development that’s rare for a high school student,” Jones told the news outlet.
Jones added that his dedication will always inspire him to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
