The police announced that they are charing an 18 year old teen with robbing and murdering a couple who were the parents to five children.
Police say that the suspect lured the clueless victims by posting a fake car sale advert online.
The suspect has been identified as 18 year old Kyree Brown, who is pictured above. The victims have been identified as Joseph and Jossline Roland, who were 39 and 40 years old respectively. The couple was fatally shot outside an apartment in Aurora, Colorado.
After seeing a Toyota Rav4 on sale for $3,000 on ‘LetGo’, an application, the couple decided to go ahead with the deal. When the suspect and victim made contact at 11pm in mid-August, the suspect killed the couple and took away with the $3,000 cash they brought on them.
Although it has not yet been fully confirmed, the Denver Post reported that Brown has confessed to his murder after being charged with 2 cases of homicide.
Joseph worked in a managerial role for ABM industries, while Jossline was an admin in a local law firm. The couple first met with the suspect in a large mall carpark, where they would have been relatively much more safer.
Their fatal mistake was believing Brown’s words that he brought the wrong car for transaction and following him to the apartment complex where there were relatively much less people who could have intervened to stop the tragedy.
It has been reported that Brown pulled out a handgun while the couple sat in their car, during which Brown demanded the money. When Joseph tried to drive away, Brown aimed and killed Joseph while unintentionally shooting Jossline during the process, according to the affidavit.
Police explained that Brown used a fake alias on LetGo, but had registered an email account that could be tracked. Using this information, they got hold of Brown’s phone number, which showed activity in all the key locations of this double homicide case.
A friend of the family has set up an online fundraiser for the young children that the couple leaves behind. The host says while no amount of financial compensation can fill up the holes of the parents, it can at least provide financial security as they grow up.
