Miss van der Zee had complained of not feeling well when she woke up one day before her big day. Her parents described how their daughter had been out with friends the night before but returned “cheerfully and without health complaints.”

But when she didn’t come out for breakfast, they checked on her and found her sick in her bed.

Her parents wrote on the model’s Instagram that “the feeling swiftly escalated in sudden cardiac arrest” that same day.

She was rushed to a hospital where she was put in a medically induced coma. Miss Van der Zee was then transferred to a specialist hospital in Munich, Germany.

Speaking to local media, her mother said they had made the decision to “let her go” after she suffered organ failure. It is unclear what caused her to have a heart attack but tests would be carried out.

Common signs and symptoms of heart attack include pressure, aching or squeezing sensation in your chest or arms that may spread to your neck, back or jaw, heartburn or indigestion, shortness of breath, fatigue, cold sweat, and lightheadedness.

Some people develop signs hours, days or weeks in advance. The earliest sign might be recurrent chest pain (angina) caused by temporarily reduced blood flow to the heart.
