Tear Gas Fired at 75,000 Migrants Trying to Cross The Border From Turkey to EU


3 days ago, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared the border ‘open’ and more than 75,000 migrants have entered the EU from Turkey since then.

Frontex, the agency protecting the EU border was on ‘high alert’ at Bulgaria and Turkey-Greece border.

Greek police not only fired tear gas but also erected the barbed wire in an attempt to prevent the chaos or ‘illegal’ entry as termed by the authorities.

Bulgaria’s line with Ankara is 118-mile long and Bulgaria deployed the army to patrol the whole line.

The whole effort was of no use as the migrants waded over the Maritsa river and entered in the Samos, Chios and Lesbos islands of Greek, by boats.

7 boats had carried 700 people to the islands in one night. It is still not clear if they’ve also entered Bulgaria.

Turkish minister, Suleyman Soylu told through a tweet that by this morning 76,358 migrants have crossed into the EU.

While the Greek authorities said that this is not the right number as they had repelled almost 10,000 migrants successfully.

In 2015, a migrant crisis happened in which thousands of refugees ran across borders in order to enter Germany, Britain, and France.

The continent fears that the 2015 scenes could be repeated and regarding the same, Bureaucrats in Brussels told everyone that an ‘emergency meeting’ will be held.

Moscow backed the regime as three journalists who were Russian were detained in Istanbul, so the tension with Moscow has also increased.
