Father-Of-Three Passed Away After An Incident At Special-Needs School


A father-of-three has tragically passed away after an incident at a special-needs school where he was teaching at an autism unit.

31-year-old Lee Sims worked as a teaching assistant at Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) unit at Ysgol Bryn Castell school for students with special needs.

According to the reports, Sims has suffered fatal injuries after he was hit in the head with a chair.

While the father-of-three was able to return home thinking that everything would be okay, he was found lifeless in his home the next day.

Following the incident, the ASD unit was closed pending investigation whereas the pupil referral unit remained open.

According to the post mortem examination, the death was sudden with no evidence of “assault or injury.”

“Following the results of a post mortem carried out today by a Home Office pathologist officers there is no evidence to suggest an assault or injury. An inquest into the death will be held in due course. We request that the family is allowed privacy at this sad time,” South Wales Police spokesperson said.

The school’s councilor has also spoken out and confirmed that Sims has passed away following “an incident with a pupil.”

“There was an incident with a pupil earlier in the week and the teacher has died later. The school is closed today while investigations are made and police are involved. Our first concern is the welfare of the teacher’s family. Pupils are getting support,” Councilor Charles Smith expressed.

As for the father’s loving friends and family, they described Sims as a “dedicated teacher” and an “amazing man and friend.”

Parents of children Sims used to teach have also paid their tributes to the 31-year-old.

“Was a great teacher to my son in primary school and hundreds of others and is a massive loss to his family and children,” one mother wrote.

“I am devastated at the news a member of staff has died. They are an amazing staff who make our children a part of their family,” another one added.
