As headteacher Howard Fisher from Kent, UK, suggested in his lengthy letter addressed to parents at St George’s Church of England Primary School, “social distancing in a school … does not exist and would never exist.”

Mr. Fisher’s announcement followed after the prime minister announced that students would return to schools by June 1 to attend certain classes.

“I can be truthful here and categorically tell you there is no such thing as social distancing in a school; it does not exist and would never exist,” the headteacher wrote in the letter.

As the headteacher went on to say, he would rather see that the students retake the school year than put themselves at risk of contracting the novel coronavirus.

“Believe me, I would rather any child repeats a year than go back too soon and have to lose a child; why is this not in the national debate; because it will cost money!” the letter concluded.
