Teacher Dubbed ‘Miracle Larry’ Released From Hospital After 128 Days


A senior teacher who has been dubbed ‘Miracle Larry’ was released from the hospital where he had been fighting COVID-19 for 128 days.

64-year-old Larry Kelly from New York City was admitted to Mount Sinai Morningside back in March after he began suffering from coronavirus symptoms.

For more than four months, since March 17, the man had been battling with the disease and spent seven weeks on a ventilator. To make the matters worse, he wasn’t able to see his beloved wife ever since his hospitalization.

According to the reports, Kelly spent 51 days battling the killer virus on a ventilator. During this time, he suffered infections and seizures that could prove deadly.

Despite the odds, however, Miracle Larry beat the disease and was finally released back into his wife’s arms.

“I gotta believe that it’s my own willpower and all of their support. I believe that in my bones,” the teacher expressed as he was greeted by his family and cheered on by the staff upon his release.

“I was in a very dark place, but something pulled me out. And if that’s a miracle, that’s a miracle!” Larry said in an interview with NBC 4.

The 64-year-old also credited his wife for saving his life by insisting she never “let them pull the plug” because she never gave up on him.

Supporting the beloved teacher were also his other family members including daughter Jackie who was thrilled to see her father on the day he was finally released from the hospital.

“It gets tough. You kind of have to hold on to as much hope as you can,” Jackie said in an interview with NBC 4.

Following his miraculous recovery, Larry admitted he wouldn’t wish what he had gone through to anybody and shared an important message for everyone out there.

“I wouldn’t wish this on anybody, so, please, wear your mask,” he said.
