A teacher has been under investigation after slamming the BLM movement during a class.
Tracey Brown is a Florida teacher who was filmed blasting the Black Lives Matter movement during an online social studies lesson.
In the video taken by one of the Poinciana High School students, Brown became agitated after one of the students said that some black people in communities are not being treated right by the police.
Interrupting the student, the teacher ordered him to stop talking before going on a rant and saying she has “a right to dislike blacks” because she was attacked when she was a teenager.
As reported by WTFV, a discussion about the US constitution turned to the topic of BLM.
“You’re implying that black lives are more important than anyone else and I have a problem with that,” Brown said as she confronted one of the students who spoke up for the movement.
As the discussion continued, Brown went on to recall her alleged past as she said:
“I was 16 years old and I was attacked on a MARTA train by a gang, and yes a gang – wearing bandannas, gang sign, language of blacks in metro Atlanta.
“I have as much right as anyone else to dislike blacks for what happened to me. So you don’t get to sit there and preach to me what I do and don’t know.”
While the teacher suggested she had the right to hate people of color, she went on to say that she “was raised that skin tone is nothing but pigment.”
“However, I am a little bit more educated than probably the average member of that gang put together and I was raised that skin tone is nothing but pigment. It has nothing to do what is on the inside,” she said.
Taking a strike at the Black Lives Matter movement, the teacher went on to call the protesters “entitled, self-righteous individuals.”
“What I have seen this entire summer is nothing but entitled, self-righteous individuals,” she said.
After the video was posted on social media by several students, nearly two thousand people have called for Brown to face disciplinary action.
According to the reports, Osceola School District has since launched an investigation. Meanwhile, Brown has been reassigned to a position where she doesn’t have contact with students.
