A 50-year-old science teacher at the Immaculate Heart of Mary School in the Philippines walks for two hours a day just to get to his school to teach his students and then to get back home.
Cesar Punzalan, who lives five miles away from his school, walks every day for two hours in his worn-out shoes because he can’t afford to buy a new pair.
One day, his students decided to surprise their teacher with a gift that brought tears in his eyes.
When 12th graders came to know about Cesar’s condition, they decided to gift him a pair of shoes.
Student Mary Ann Claire Garcia filmed the heartwarming moment students surprised him with the new pair of shoes.
Mary’s mother Michelle Legaspi posted the heartwarming video on Facebook in which a student can be heard saying: “That’s just our way of helping you a little bit. That’s nothing compared to what you have done for us and taught us.”
Cesar was left in tears when he opened the gift box and saw a new pair of shoes. He said to his students: “You didn’t have to do this. Why did you spend your money? In my profession as a teacher, I don’t expect anything in return.”
The video was posted online that left everyone teary-eyed. One user wrote: ‘Awesome…Not that I can understand a word, but clearly the kids appreciate a good teacher’ while another said: ‘Wow! That was super sweet! They didn’t have to do that’.
The third one wrote: ‘I got touched by this video…This is really a proof of love and gratitude!! He teaches not just to get money, but to give those kids a Better Future!! God Bless you!!’
