As seen in the photos of the handout, the first three cartoon images show slave owners and a KKK member kneeling on Black people. In the two frames below, a sheriff and a police officer are seen kneeling on Black men’s necks in a similar manner.

After the assignment was given to the students, outraged parents have slammed the teacher and the school and accused them of fueling hatred towards the police.

“My daughter showed me the paper. I said, ‘What is this?! You’ve got to be kidding me!’ This cartoon compares the police to the KKK. It’s an attack on the police,” one concerned parent, Ania Paternostro, said in an interview with the New York Post.

“This cartoon is disturbing. We have to respect the men in blue who protect us. We don’t need a teacher brainwashing my kids. I’ll teach my kids about what’s right and what’s wrong.”

As the Poland-native mother claimed, she sent letters of complaint to the Westlake HS’s principal and the officials at the Mount Pleasant School District which oversees the high school her daughter is attending.

Meanwhile, Ania’s daughter shared photos of the controversial handouts on social media where critics allegedly accused her of being racist for defending the police.

“The cartoon was disgusting. It compared the police with all the terrible people in history. It was not fair. It wasn’t right,” the teen told The Post.

According to the reports, the same cartoon was previously also shared by a high school in Texas.

“I want to address an issue that I have recently been advised is of deep concern to many members of our community,” the superintendent wrote in his letter.

“Specifically, I have been advised that one of our High School teachers may have recently conducted a lesson that many have deemed to be highly controversial in the current climate.”
