A school teacher has been accused of murdering a man he met online before eating his remain.
41-year-old Stefan R from Germany was arrested after human bones were discovered in a park and police dogs led investigators to his apartment.
The alleged victim, Stefan Trogisch, had been reported missing in early September after he left his flat before midnight and never returned. He had not told his roommates where he was off to when he left on September 5.
According to investigations, Stefan R had browsed for cannibalism-related content online and had once asked the internet whether a person could survive after having their genitalia cut off.
On November 8, pieces of leg bone were then discovered in a park. Two police dogs followed the trail and led them to Stefan R’s apartment, where officers found a bone with human blood. They also discovered an empty cooler and a supply of chemicals.
Stefan R told investigators that he was using the chemicals to make soap but the officers are investigating whether they were used to break down a corpse.
Berliner Morgenpost also reported that traces of the victim’s blood were found at the flat after forensic tests.
Prosecutors’ office spokesperson Martin Steltner said: “The suspect had an interest in cannibalism. He searched online for the topic.”
Fleshless bones discovered in the park also raised suspicion that the meat had been removed. “Because of the completely fleshless bone, and other evidence, we strongly suspect that Stefan T was the victim of a cannibal.”
Authorities announced that the case of the missing Trogisch was now a murder investigation after tests revealed that the bones found in the park belonged to him.
