People who work in retail knows very well that how tragically wrong the saying “the customer is always right” can be.
But, you usually have to stick to it or you can be in trouble. 27% of retail workers tell customers to treat them with respect if they didn’t feel like there would be negative consequences.
Last week, a Target employee was blamed when one customer tried to take his case to Twitter. The customer is verified by Twitter as a journalist. The Massachusetts resident started a Twitter thread on Friday when a Target manager refused to honor a toothbrush that Leavitt thought was priced at one cent. Leavitt didn’t notice the price was actually for the display and ended up calling the police and publicly shaming Target employee Tori Perotti.
He clicked a picture of her and got the police involved. He took the matter on Twitter, But it didn’t help his cause either.
The community supported the employee and even decided she deserved vacation just for dealing with him.

People stated that the customer wouldn’t have valid points to stand on by arguing that the electric toothbrush, which usually runs between $90 and $150, was on sale for a single cent.
Some said that it was happened due to misprint, others with retail pointed out that what he saw was a sticker placed on the plastic display to keep track of shelf space in the store’s system.
The community of Twitter felt bad about the poor employee who had to deal with his nonsense. They thought she deserved vacation for all that, someone started a GoFundMe that has racked up almost $30,000 just over the weekend.
The person who started the GoFundMe and the Target employee herself confirmed that the account had been transferred to her.
Tori is contemplating where to donate the money rather than putting it all away for herself.
