Communication barriers are a very common thing that arises in human beings.
Communication barriers are the difficulties people can have while they try to have a conversation. While there are numerous barriers of communication, no one can deny that barrier of language can be the biggest one to fight against.
People belonging to different regions speak different dialects. Even though the world is a global village now, there still is no one language that every person in the world can speak and thus a gap or a barrier can arise while you talk to a person who doesn’t speak your language.
Although language can be a problem, there are certain things that are universal and mean the same in every single language. They can be gestures, numbers, etc.
A taco-bell employee made this excuse her reason to deny service to a customer just because the customer did not speak that same language as her.
Alexandria Montgomery, who only knew English, went to the taco bell to have some food.When she reached to the drive-thru window to place her order, she had a conversation with an employee there.
Luisa was at the window at the time Montgomery reached the window to place her order.When she tried to ask for the order, Luisa told her that there is no one in the building that can speak English and that is why Montgomery should leave the queue and move forward as others are waiting to place their order.
Montgomery was not happy when Luisa refused to take her order and she asked if she could speak to the manager. Luisa kept asking her to leave and even threatened her to call the police for the situation. When Montgomery did not move out of the queue, the employee shut the order window.
Montgomery recorded the entire scene and she was pissed at the company for behaving in such a way. She said that she understands that no one understands English in the staff but they do understand their menu. It is not hard to understand when the customer is saying that she needs the number 6 on the menu.
The video went viral on the social media and gathered the attention of 147,000 viewers and as a result of the complaint, the employee was fired from the restaurant.
