Just as the fans have given up all hope of ever seeing the return of Rocky Balboa, the 73-year-old American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter revealed that negotiations are in place to develop the 7th chapter of the popular franchise which dates back to 1976.

According to Stallone, the unexpected sequel will feature Balboa and an underdog street fighter who’s living in the States illegally.

“Rocky meets a young, angry person who got stuck in this country when he comes to see his sister. He takes him into his life, and unbelievable adventures begin, and they wind up south of the border. It’s very, very timely,” the actor explained.

According to the reports, the creators hope to see Stallone not only writing the script but also starring as Rocky Balboa once again.

“It’s like my brother. It’s the only voice that I can say what I want without being ridiculed, or being silly, or being precious or sentimental because he is that way,” Stallone said of the fictional character.

“Rocky can’t keep quiet. He just talks and talks and spills his guts. And as a writer, if you do that quite often, it looks as though you’re just lost in the world of exposition.

“But he’s actually saying something, and because of the way he speaks and his naivety and gentle quality, you listen. Rocky can say things that my other characters can never say.”

The good news follows one year after Stallone announced it was time to put down the gloves and pass on the mantle following the release of Creed 2 which he wrote.

“Yo, due to the overwhelming and loving response to this wonderful character I just want to say one last final farewell… Thank you again from the bottom of BOTH our hearts…” the actor tweeted.
