Sweden’s Princess Sofia began working in the hospital recently to help the nation fight against the coronavirus disease.
The 35 years old royal who is married to 40 years old Prince Carl Philip took a 3-days medical course at Stockholm’s Sophiahemmet University College, where the Princess is the honorary chair member.
Princess Sophia is now able to assist healthcare workers and help fight the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected almost 12,000 people in the Scandanavian nation and claimed the lives of 1203.
Photographs show her posing with other healthcare workers at the hospital who are all maintaining a safe distance from each other.
The university is preparing almost 80 people every week to help lift the heavy burden put on the medical workers and doctors in the country.
Margaretha Thorsen, the director of the Information & Press Department at Royal Court, said that the Princess wanted to make a contribution to the healthcare workers at the time where resources were stretched.
Princess Sophia, who is a former model, became the part of the royal family in 2015 when she got married to Prince Carl Philip, who is King Carl Gustaf’s son.
The Prince is fourth in the line to the Swedish throne, after Crown Princess Victoria (his sister), and his nephew and niece Prince Oscar and Princess Estelle.
The Duchess of Värmland shares two children with Prince Carl Philip – Prince Gabriel and Prince Alexander, who are next in the line after their father.
The Princess had a successful glamor model career before she got married. She was also a reality TV star and appeared on Sweden’s version of Paradise hotel.
The death toll on Wednesday saw the highest number at 170 in the country and took it from 1033 to 1203. The country still refuses to announce lockdown.
On Sunday and Saturday, the increase in the death toll was not significant. The number of deaths on Saturday was 50 while on Sunday, the death toll for the day stood at 54.
